Meet our volunteers

‘I chose to volunteer as a fundraiser for Honeypot as I had enjoyed a career working with young children. It’s proved to be one of the best decisions made in my retirement so far! I knew Honeypot provided much-needed respite care/holidays for young carers and other vulnerable children, but I have leaned much more about it during the year or so I have been involved in helping with various events and activities aimed at raising the money to fund all the lovely things that go on down at Honeypot House! Events that you attend to fundraise need only be local, as I prefer, but of course Honeypot needs people from as many localities as possible, in order to spread the word! I’d recommend it!’

‘I have been a volunteer ambassador for just over a year and I love it! Knowing that everything I do ultimately helps a child directly is extremely moving and rewarding. Due to their life situation, these children need the care and support of adults beyond their family – I consider myself lucky to be in a position to help these inspirational selfless children to be children. If you are reading this thinking ‘I don’t know what I could offer’ then please contact the office – you have skills that will make a difference to the lives of Honeypot’s very special children.’

“Volunteering for The Honeypot Children’s Charity has been extremely rewarding. I have met some great people who have become firm friends and enjoyed immensely attending a variety of different events. Assisting Bumble at events surrounded by children and other onlookers is a great privilege and challenge all in one!”

“Both I and my wife Tricia became involved with Honeypot through a volunteer recruitment fair where 19 other charities were also presenting. Tricia helps with the children, doing craft work and other fun things on the Playbus and sometimes helping with the house visits. Helping the kids have fun has been really worthwhile. She loves meeting the children.

I am a Volunteer Ambassador, informing community and business groups about Honeypot, encouraging them to sponsor Honeypot and thanking them for the valuable support they provide. Adrienne makes the arrangements and always follows up on any leads I provide and whether they have been successful. Honeypot really values its volunteers, agreeing what they want from their role and keeping them informed of new developments and achievements. It takes a while to become effective, but I must be improving as just this weekend I have managed to convince two companies each to support a Honeypot child for a year. What a great buzz that gave me – only 798 more children to support.”
