Well done to all our runners who took part in the Virgin London Marathon 2011. They all did amazingly well and managed to raise £20,000!

One of our runners Esme Alexander raised more than £5000! Here is her story in her own words….
“A whole 26.2 miles… I must be insane!
I stumbled across Honeypot when I was 8 yrs old, when I decided to raise money by selling my dodgy homemade bread to our kind and long suffering neighbours. I raised about £80 and it felt good to be able to help such a wonderful cause.
Despite the disbelief of some (especially my teenage friends at school!) there are people who actually enjoy running. So when I decided to combine taking my A-Levels with training for the London Marathon I couldn’t think of a more inspirational charity to run for. I admire all the work that Honeypot do, and they have fantastic results to show for their unwavering dedication to children.
A few weeks ago I visited Honeypot House for the first time. Set deep into the New Forest, it really is a magical and happy place. I was so impressed by the standard of care and attention given to the children. I think a priceless experience is given to each and every Honeypot child and it was a joy to meet both the carers and some of the children (not to mention the resident Guinea pigs!)
I have not a hint of doubt that for all us runners, each mile feels well worth it in order to help the children make the most of their one childhood, their one chance.
So bring on the 26.2 miles ahead… !”
