A message from The Honeypot Children’s Charity

  • A Message from Honeypot's CEO

Dear friends,

We are in challenging times at the moment and are thinking in particular about the elderly and vulnerable in our communities. Whilst we are keen not to panic in the face of this concerning time, we do have to take steps to ensure that all our staff and children remain safe whilst keeping our wonderful supporters, referring agencies & parents updated with what Honeypot is currently doing.

Charities around the UK are adapting their working arrangements to protect their staff and slow the spread of coronavirus. Following government guidance, we have decided that our team will be working from home until further notice. We anticipate this being for at least the next few weeks, but it may of course be longer.

All staff have the necessary tools to continue the important work of keeping the charity going; referring agencies and parents will continue to receive the information that they need to support their children. For our supporters, please know that out fundraising team will continue working as normally as possible and can all be contacted directly via their email. Please note that our email address info@honeypot.org.uk is checked hourly and should always be used if you do not have a specific email address for a particular person.

We have after much thought unfortunately taken the decision to cancel all our breaks for the time being and will be reassessing the situation on a weekly basis. This is extremely disappointing to us but we have had to consider the fact that these breaks are likely to increase the spread of the virus rather than dissipate it. On our fundraising front, we know that many opportunities for us to fundraise are being taken away, with coffee mornings, quiz nights and marathons being cancelled or postponed. The impact on our income has still yet to be quantified but we feel reassured that our supporters, once we reach safer and more normal times, will rise to the occasion as they always have done to support Honeypot and allow every Honeypot child to have their one chance at childhood. For this we are truly grateful.

On behalf of the staff at Honeypot I wish you all a safe few months and please do not forget that we are always available via our website, by phone, social media and email and if there is anything we can help you with please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best wishes,

Simmi Woodwal, CEO
