‘Thank you for thinking of me.’

Over August, we’ve been busy delivering more gifts, books and play-to-learn resources to young carers. Our team was overwhelmed with messages from Honeypot families telling us how much it meant to them. After distributing play-to-learn LEGO sets to more than 1,500 young carers across the UK, we were overjoyed to receive messages and phone calls from Honeypot families. We were told, “You don’t know how much this has lifted my son’s spirits”, and among countless other comments from young carers, “Thank you for thinking of me.” We’d like to send a huge thank you to The LEGO Foundation for helping us to uplift Honeypot children and brighten some of their most difficult days during coronavirus.

We also received brilliant feedback from young carers about our August virtual workshops. You can catch up on everything Honeypot children have been saying about them here!

Our supporters have been just as busy!

Honeypot fundraisers and challengers went the extra mile in August to remind young carers that they are always thought of and supported. Jaha Browne told us, “I came across young carers on TV talking about what they do everyday for their loved ones, and I was blown away that they could manage this as children. I hosted a series of virtual gong baths to raise money for the incredible work Honeypot does, supporting young carers. As well as awareness for young carers across the UK, Jaha raised a wonderful £162 for Honeypot.

The Prudential My Ride London virtual event took place this month and our Bank of America friends rode to the rescue for Honeypot! Philip Loane raised an incredible £345 cycling 79 miles across the North Downs. Doug Read and Chris Keep also got involved in the world’s largest cycling festival, raising £315. We’re so grateful for supporters like these!

We’re so impressed by the lengths our knitting volunteers go to. A special thank you to Jackie Vokes and Meg Winter, who have knitted bumblebees to help us spread the word about Honeypot and the work we do.

We’re delighted to announce our new partnership with Newtown Football Club. With the support of the club, we know that many more people will become aware that Newtown is home to Honeypot Pen Y Bryn, an incredible facility serving young carers.A message for young carers:

As children across the country return to school this week, we’re thinking about the brave young carers who are also going back. We know this is an anxious time for everyone – we’re sending each and every one of you our best wishes.
