Bumble Blasts Off!

22 Mehefin 2026

More than 70 motorcyclists took to the roads of Hampshire on Saturday 20 June for the inaugural Bumble Blast, raising more than £8,000, and still counting, to support young carers and children aged 5 to 12 experiencing difficult circumstances.

The unique charity ride, the brainchild of Honeypot Trustee Richard Houseago, saw bikers don bee-themed outfits and decorate their motorcycles before setting off on a spectacular 100-mile route through the New Forest. Richard and his wife Annie were among those taking part, helping to make the first Bumble Blast a memorable day for everyone involved.

The convoy was cheered on by Honeypot's volunteers and Bumble himself outside Honeypot House before heading to the world-famous Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum. Riders were delighted when motorcycling legend Sammy Miller himself, now aged 92, came out to greet participants and admire the colourful spectacle.

The team at the museum, led by Sharon Bumpsteed, gave Bumble Blast participants a warm welcome, with bikes filling the courtyard while riders explored the museum's remarkable collection and enjoyed lunch together. The afternoon ride continued through the beautiful New Forest before returning to Loomies Moto Café for live music, dancing from Bumble, a fundraising raffle and plenty of opportunities for riders to share stories from the day.

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many participants already calling for Bumble Blast to return in 2027 and promising to bring friends along next time.

"It was wonderful to see so many people come together to support Honeypot while enjoying a fantastic day of riding. The enthusiasm, creativity and generosity of everyone involved exceeded all our expectations, and we're incredibly grateful to every rider, volunteer and supporter who helped make this first Bumble Blast such a success." Richard Houseago, Honeypot Trustee and founder of Bumble Blast
"Our very first Bumble Blast was everything we hoped it would be and more. Seeing dozens of riders come together in their bee costumes, united by a shared desire to support young carers and children experiencing difficult circumstances, was incredibly heartwarming. We are hugely grateful to Richard for bringing this brilliant idea to life, to every participant who took part, and to our volunteers and partners who made the day such a success. The funds raised will help more children enjoy the chance to build confidence, make friends and simply be children again." Simmi Woodwal, Honeypot CEO

Funds raised from the event will help The Honeypot Children's Charity support young carers and children aged 5 to 12 experiencing difficult circumstances through residential Respite Breaks, Health and Wellbeing Breaks, and ongoing wraparound support designed to build confidence, reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.

Although more than £8,000 has already been raised, donations are still coming in as fundraising pages remain open, meaning the final total is expected to climb even higher. If you would like to support the Honeypot Bumble Blast you can make a donation to Richard's fundraising page here:
