Honeypot Pen y Bryn opens its doors to the local community
Honeypot Pen y Bryn in Wales opened its doors to local business professionals and members of the community last Thursday, inviting them to discover more about the charity’s work supporting young carers and children aged 5–12 facing difficult circumstances.
The afternoon of networking brought together local businesses, organisations and individuals to learn more about The Honeypot Children’s Charity, tour Honeypot Pen y Bryn house and its beautiful grounds, and explore the many ways they can get involved and support the charity’s work.
The event was attended by Steve Witherden, Labour MP for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr, and Margaret Lewington, Mayor of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn, alongside other guests.
Honeypot provides a unique range of services designed to give children the opportunity to make happy memories, build confidence and develop brighter futures, while helping to ease some of the pressures they face in their everyday lives.
Honeypot Pen y Bryn, set in beautiful surroundings in Powys, provides a welcoming space where children can enjoy time away from their caring responsibilities and experience opportunities that many children take for granted. From residential respite breaks and health and wellbeing breaks; to special memory-making experiences and practical support, Honeypot’s services are designed around the needs of the children and families it supports.
The open house gave guests the opportunity to see the setting for themselves, meet members of the Honeypot team and discover how local businesses and individuals can make a meaningful difference. This could include corporate partnerships, volunteering, fundraising, sponsorship, donations or simply helping to raise awareness of the challenges faced by young carers.
Simmi Woodwal, Chief Executive at Honeypot, said:
Opening the doors of Honeypot Pen y Bryn gives us a wonderful opportunity to connect with people in our local community and show them what makes Honeypot so special. We want to build relationships with local businesses and organisations and help them understand the difference they can make to children who are taking on caring responsibilities or need additional support. We hope everyone who joins us will leave with a better understanding of our work, a sense of the impact we can have together, and perhaps and idea about how they might get involved.
Honeypot is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of creating happy memories and building brighter futures for children who need additional support.
The charity is keen to develop strong relationships within the communities surrounding each of its three residential houses in Wales, England and Scotland, ensuring that local businesses and individuals have the opportunity to play a part in its work.
