Calling All Volunteers!

14 August 2025

The Honeypot Children’s Charity is seeking caring and reliable volunteers (aged 18+) to join our dedicated team at our Scottish Honeypot House in Dalleagles, New Cumnock. This is a unique opportunity to help transform the lives of young carers aged 5–12 by offering them a much-needed break filled with fun, creativity, and encouragement.

Volunteers play a vital role in creating joyful and memorable experiences for our young carers. You could:

  • Help run fun activities like baking, arts & crafts, and bicycle riding

  • Prepare and serve packed lunches or dinner

  • Support themed movie nights and talent shows

  • Provide encouragement and emotional support to help children grow and thrive

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering with The Honeypot Children’s Charity is more than just giving your time, it’s about changing lives, including your own. You’ll be part of a warm, welcoming team, making a lasting impact while having fun.

Derrick Young, Honeypot volunteer, said:

“Most of us want satisfaction in life or what’s the point? You have to have something that makes each day different and, and I think that’s volunteering. And yes, you do get massive reward – it’s not a selfless act, it’s very, very rewarding. ”

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are:

  • Caring and reliable

  • Over 18 years old

  • Able to commit a few hours a month

Whether you have experience in childcare, cooking, gardening, or simply a passion for helping others, we’d love to hear from you.

About The Honeypot Children’s Charity

The Honeypot Children’s Charity provides tailored support for young carers and children aged 5-12 facing difficult circumstances, including caring responsibilities, loss, instability or other significant challenges. The children we support benefit from time away from daily responsibilities and stress, giving them the opportunity to relax, build friendships and simply be children.

Our three Honeypot houses in England, Scotland and Wales provide Respite Breaks, Health & Wellbeing Breaks, and ongoing wraparound support. These early intervention services help children build confidence, resilience and joy at a crucial stage in their lives, creating happy childhood memories and building brighter futures regardless of the barriers they face.
