Honeypot Pen y Bryn
Newtown | Powys
Honeypot Pen y Bryn is our second house, opened in 2016. Idyllically located in Powys, the house is a tastefully converted Welsh chapel that sits amongst the rolling hills and beautiful scenery of Mid Wales. The house welcomes children from Wales, The Midlands and North West.
There’s a large open plan living space for playing and relaxing, a huge dining table for tasty shared meals, three children’s bedrooms and three bedrooms for staff. There are four members of staff on each break so there is always an adult nearby if needed. All children spend time in the house each day, it’s where everyone comes together to eat, bake, play and have fun. There are lots of great books to read and we have movie nights too.
We have our own large gardens for safe play and adventures that include three trampolines, lots of bicycles, mud kitchen, water slip-slide, and galleon play area. We have great indoor play spaces in the Hive where toys, games and a whole range of arts and crafts can be found. Our Memory Tree, where children can display their favourite memories from each break, is in the Hive too.
And if this is not enough to delight young carers, our beautiful indoor heated swimming pool is equipped with water toys and games, floats, and inflatables for a splashing good time to be enjoyed all year round.
Meet the Pen y Bryn team

Mark Phillips
Operations
Manager
After almost 30 years working in the education sector as a Teacher and Headteacher, I am delighted to join the team at Honeypot as Operations Manager for the Wales site at Pen-y-Bryn. Making a positive difference in the lives of children is so rewarding and I am excited to work with the staff here to create memories through amazing experiences for our fantastic children.

Fiona Buckley
Children's Services
Coordinator
I have over 22 years' experience working in schools as a Pastoral Manager, Family Liaison and Safeguarding Lead, supporting children and families through many different challenges. I joined Honeypot in 2023 and am proud to be the Children's Services Coordinator, organising our residential breaks. I am especially passionate about our Health & Wellbeing breaks, where I lead group therapeutic intervention sessions and use my counselling skills.

Poppy Buckley
Children's Services
Leader
I’ve been part of the team since 2022. I support children with their social and emotional needs, helping them build skills that they carry with them, not only here at Honeypot, but also into their home and school life. My favourite part of the job is getting creative, sharing a laugh, and making Honeypot memories that will last a lifetime! Together, we build confidence, perseverance, and so much more!

Rosa Ellis
Children's Residential
Support Worker
I love getting stuck into a new art project, singing along to some music, or heading outdoors to explore our beautiful grounds, as well as helping children to discover new passions. For me, the best part of being at Honeypot is watching children thrive in a space where they can truly be themselves. I’m here to make sure every visit is packed with fun, fresh air, and plenty of opportunities to create some special memories.

Stacey Huffer
Children's Services
Leader
I have over 15 years’ experience working in education, supporting children's social and emotional wellbeing as a Thrive- trained practitioner and holder of a counselling diploma, delivering targeted interventions in a pastoral support role. Being able to give children an experience of a lifetime, helping them feel safe, happy and valued is incredibly important to me.
