Green Day with Munich RE

We held a green day with multinational insurance company, Munich Re, recently at our Honeypot house in Hampshire.

The day involved a tour of Honeypot House, lunch and lots of jobs for our willing volunteers to help out with!

The day began with an icebreaker for the team to get to know each other, hosted in our lovely art studio kindly donated by the Webb foundation.

Many employees had different motivations for attending…

I’m in admiration of these young carers and I want to do anything I can to help.

My sister works as a teaching assistant for children with special requirements and I have some nieces/nephews with disabilities. The work Honeypot does is so needed!

I have a son that is autistic so I understand what these young carers have to do. I did a half marathon for charity most recently and wanted to get stuck in and get my hands dirty as the work you do it amazing!

What Honeypot do is very close to my heart, some of these youngsters have to go through a lot, I want to do what I can!

The day continued with a talk by our Community Engagement Manager Viv, sharing stories about some of Honeypot’s young carers. Children come from all backgrounds to Honeypot, some shy, some full of confidence. Viv spoke about how the team at Hampshire support each young carer individually to enable them to enjoy the Honeypot services fully.

Viv then guided our volunteers around Honeypot house, beginning in the art studio, and taking them through the lounge, bedrooms, swimming pool and outside grounds. Before heading back to the main house for lunch.

Post lunch it was time to help out and get stuck into some volunteering.

To do list

-Gardening

-Weeding

-Painting Children’s play area

-Digging

The whole team got stuck in straight away working as a team to help our groundsmen Keith with the many jobs on his list!

One volunteer brought his Grandad’s axe all the way to Hampshire from London to help get stuck in! He managed to help out the team with one of the most difficult tasks on the list.. the trunk!

Thank you to Munich RE for all your hard work!

Why not find out about becoming a corporate partner? You too could have the opportunity to have wonderful rewarding Green Days bringing staff together to volunteer for our young carers and do team bonding in our wonderful homes in Hampshire and Wales.
