Children’s Mental Health Week

The 5th-11th of February 2018 is Children’s Mental Health Week.

While young carers generally feel proud of the contribution they make at home, and caring can have positive effects – boosting empathy, understanding and maturity – it can also have a very real negative effect on a child’s well-being.

Young carers are regarded at risk of tiredness, stress, depression and anxiety. In some cases this can be due to the emotional impact from having a chronically ill or disabled parent or sibling, particularly when the appropriate services seem insufficient. In other situations, it can be down to having to balance their caring role with other responsibilities.

Through informal play, organised activities, supportive staff in a nurturing environment, having a little time to yourself without worry, and making friends and talking to other children in similar circumstances, the Honeypot Children's Charity strives to encourage good mental health in every child we reach through respite breaks or as part of our outreach support.

To get involved with Honeypot, ring us on 020 7602 2631, or email us at info@honeypot.org.uk.
