Honeypot Wellbeing Fund

Objectives and Eligibility Criteria

The Honeypot Wellbeing Fund forms part of The Honeypot Children’s Charity Wrap Around service for young carers and vulnerable children between 5 and 12 years of age.

Wellbeing fund objectives

The Fund provides grants of up to £250 to economically disadvantaged households to achieve one or more of the following outcomes for the child:

  • Overcome social isolation/loneliness

  • Address anxiety/low mood/depression

  • Facilitate access to education (e.g. travel, uniform, school trip, technology for online learning)

  • Improve educational attainment (e.g. additional academic support/resources)

  • Mitigate impact of caring responsibilities

  • Access respite services

  • Enable childhood pursuits (e.g. access to leisure, fun, entertainment*)

  • Develop a skill, hobby or interest (e.g. purchase a musical instrument)

  • Obtain household necessities (e.g. white goods)

    * Excludes mobile telephones and electronic games consoles

eligibility criteria

To be eligible for a Wellbeing Grant the following conditions must be met:

  • The child on whose behalf the grant application is made must be registered with our service as an active Honeypot child between 5 and 12 years of age (inclusive)

  • The grant request must relate to the purchase of a specific product or service which can be procured directly by The Honeypot Children’s Charity (i.e. the grant cannot be in the form of cash for discretionary spend)

  • The funded product or service must directly and clearly address at least one of the Wellbeing Fund programme objectives (as specified in the section above)

  • One of the following two conditions must be met:

    • There must be current evidence of financial disadvantage/hardship. The Fund accepts the following forms of evidence (one or more may apply):

      • The child is eligible for Free School Meals

      • The child (via their school) is in receipt of the Pupil Premium

      • A sibling or parent living with the child is in receipt of Carer's Allowance

      • A sibling or parent living with the child is in receipt of a Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

      • A sibling or parent living with the child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (for Adult or for Child)

      • A sibling or parent living with the child is in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance

    • OR the grant application must be sponsored by an appropriate professional** with sufficient knowledge of the child, their family and circumstances to assert that:

      • The grant request is appropriate and will be of significant benefit to the child

      • The family does not have sufficient financial means to fund the requested purchase from their own resources without hardship

** An “appropriate professional” means a doctor, registered nurse, social worker, teacher/head-teacher or a young carer’s group leader

following submission of a grant application

The Honeypot Wellbeing Fund Administration Board meets at minimum once per month to review all applications received in the preceding period.

Referrers and families will be advised of Board decisions by email within 7 days of the Board meeting.

Failure to complete the Grant Application Form in full will result in the application being returned to the Applicant for further information, to be considered at a future Board meeting.

Failure to complete the Grant Application Form honestly and accurately may result in the application being rejected and any related future applications barred.
