Honeypot Christmas Appeal - Light up a young carer's life

Honeypot is delighted to announce that our Christmas Appeal – Light up a young carer’s life – will be launching on Tuesday 2nd December 9am and will run for two weeks until 16th December 5pm. During this period, every donation made will be DOUBLED*, thanks to our generous match fund partner The Betty Messenger Charitable Foundation, meaning your generosity will go twice as far in supporting young carers this festive season.

Meet Elsie

Elsie at Honeypot House

Elsie lives at home with her mum Becky, dad Ash, little brother Leo, and their cat Monty. She’s a young carer who plays a vital role in her family’s daily life - especially when it comes to supporting her mum, who lives with Functional Neurological Disorder, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Migraines.

Elsie has now been on two Respite Breaks where she found joy in the fun and freedom there. She also learned to ride a bike - something that just wasn’t possible at home.

Because of our circumstances, we perhaps don’t get to do as much as other families. Going out and about can be quite difficult.
— Bex, young carer Elsie's mum

For many young carers like Elsie, Christmas can be a challenging time. While other children are enjoying the magic of the holidays, these incredible young people are busy caring for family members and often missing out on the joy and excitement of the festive season.

Your support can make a difference to the young carers we support.

This Christmas every donation made to our appeal will be DOUBLED:

£10 will fund the postage and envelopes to send 4 young carers our Honeypot Winter Fun Book to keep them smiling over the festive season.

£50 will fund all the food and treats for 3 young carers on their annual residential Respite Break.

£170 will fund a special Honeypot Memory Making Day for a young carer - this is an extraordinarily special day out like the Santa Experience young carers enjoyed.

£250 will fund a Wellbeing Grant for a young carer from a deprived background to buy life essential items to support them at home (like replacing a broken washing machine or buying school uniforms).

£488 will fund a 3 day/2night residential Respite Break at Honeypot House for a young carer.

£5,897 will fund a full Respite Break for 12 young carers.

Details and links to the donation platform will be live on the 2nd December.

If you wish to donate by bank transfer or other method, please contact fundraising@honeypot.org.uk to arrange for your donation to be included (and doubled) in this appeal.

*Up to our £100,000 fund limit.
