Honeypot Carol Concert Brings Christmas Cheer to Romsey Abbey for Another Year
The annual Honeypot Christmas Carol Concert at Romsey Abbey on 12 December raised an amazing £9,731.78 for young carers!
Guests were treated to an exceptional standard of music, with performances from professional choirs, the talented Queen Bees a cappella group, and the Bournemouth Youth Handbell Team. The handbell performance was a particular highlight, as the Abbey’s tech team captured close-up footage of the musicians’ intricate movements and displayed it on big screens, giving the audience a fascinating behind-the-scenes view.
The Abbey looked stunning as always, enhanced by dramatic uplighting of its pillars courtesy of Luminique Events, who generously provided the service free of charge. The festive atmosphere was further lifted by audience participation during a lively rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas, led by MC Colin Hobbs, followed by a humorous reading from John Pockett imagining the “true love’s” reaction to all those extravagant gifts.
One of the most touching moments came when Jack Hobbs shared his personal story of being supported by Honeypot as a young carer 26 years ago. He expressed his gratitude and joy at still receiving Honeypot gifts. Simmi, our CEO, also reflected on Honeypot’s incredible 30-year journey, speaking from the heart about the charity’s impact and the unwavering support it receives.
The evening concluded with a fantastic raffle and a rousing sing-along of We Wish You a Merry Christmas, leaving everyone in high spirits. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
“Well that was a triumph. Well done, a really lovely evening!”
A huge thank you to our headline sponsors: Selwood and Watermaiden, and to our programme sponsors Fairweather's Garden Centre, Breckenridge Agency, Afford A Print Ltd and Luminique Events for their support and for helping make the wonderful evening possible.
