Pastoral Support

We have developed and expanded our services to include our new Pastoral Support service.

The service aims to provide young carers and their family with consistent support to enhance and further ensure the wellbeing of the family, specifically the child with caring responsibilities.

How will we provide support?

The pastoral service focuses on working with the family to identify the needs of the young carer and family.

From this initial care and support plan, our team will ensure the child has access to our core services, including respite breaks, group and skills activities, memory making days, online after school activities, and additional 1-1 pastoral support.

Parents can access support through our new parent forum.

Who are we working with?

Our pastoral team are committed to working in partnership with both families and the multi-agency network of professionals.

Our focus is primarily aimed at the young carer themselves, however this service works in conjunction with other agencies such as NHS, children and adult services, CAMHS, housing, who may be working with the wider family.

As part of our work with the family, we aim to help signpost and support the family to access additional support through our network of community services.

Our Pastoral Manager and Co-ordinators have supported families in tasks such as requesting referrals to other charities and services, drafting letters to ensure our young carers get the right support in school and liaising with social workers and other professionals to contribute to the multi-disciplinary teams around our Honeypot families. Some success stories include, ensuring a family gained access to much needed benefits by supporting their application, helping a family get the right support from mental health specialists during a crisis and being able to work with our house staff to ensure a child experiencing a particularly challenging time was supported in an expedited break. By providing regular and consistent contact with our parents and guardians between breaks, we have developed meaningful relationships with families which in turns allows us to support them more fully.
