Hobby Hut Opening at Honeypot House
At the end of June, the Hampshire community gathered with excitement to celebrate the grand opening of the new Hobby Hut at Honeypot House. This wonderful addition was made possible through the dedication and hard work of our long-time volunteer, Derrick Young. Derrick's craftsmanship and commitment have brought this vision to life, providing a space where young carers can come together to share and explore new hobbies.
The project also received generous support from Charles Cooke-Hurle, Jo Cooke-Hurle and John Spencer, whose contributions were instrumental in making the Hobby Hut a reality.
The opening ceremony was a joyous occasion, with children from Somerford Primary School, Christchurch, who were on a SEAL Learning Break, joining us to explore the new hut.
We are excited to see what the young carers get up to in the Hobby Hut – from making hedgehog houses and watching the wildlife enjoy the feeders, to huddling by the eco friendly wood burner.
“The Hubby Hut is a great asset for us in Hampshire. It will add even more excitment and opportunities for the children we support. It will give the children another opportunity to use their creativity and work with tools, explore nature and use the mud kitchen. For some children they might not have this opportunity at home. On the opening of the Hobby Hut, the children were full of joy and excitement, they couldn’t wait to get inside and start to enjoy all the Hobby Hut has to offer. ”
